Fluid Pharma is delighted to announce that its research on Tat-Fit™ has been recognised with the Best Poster Prize for Science-Based Welfare Content at the Institute of Animal Technology (IAT) Congress 2026, held from 24–27 March.
The award-winning poster, Palatable and Refined Oral Approach to Tamoxifen Dosing for Cre Induction in Mice, highlighted the welfare benefits of Tat-Fit™, Fluid Pharma’s innovative taste-masked tamoxifen formulation designed to enable stress-free, ethical and consistent oral dosing in transgenic mouse studies.
The judges praised the work, commenting that it was “very clear, with sound scientific benefits through reduced stress to the animals” This recognition reflects the significant contribution Tat-Fit™ is making towards improving animal welfare while maintaining the scientific standards required for high-quality research.
Developed using Fluid Pharma’s proprietary MicroCoat® technology, Tat-Fit™ offers researchers a practical alternative to traditional tamoxifen administration methods. By reducing the need for invasive procedures, the formulation helps minimise stress for laboratory animals while supporting reliable and reproducible research outcomes.
The research was carried out in collaboration with the University of Cambridge, with the team evaluating both the welfare benefits and Cre-induction efficiency of Tat-Fit™ taste-masked tamoxifen micropellets. The study demonstrated that Tat-Fit™ achieves gene deletion efficiency comparable to oral gavage and intraperitoneal injection, without causing the weight loss often associated with more invasive dosing methods.
The award was presented during the Institute of Animal Technology Congress, where Fluid Pharma exhibited Tat-Fit™ and engaged with laboratory technicians and researchers from across the sector. The event provided an opportunity to discuss how the formulation can help refine tamoxifen dosing and improve welfare in Cre-recombination studies.
